TYPES OF SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATIONS

ROOF MOUNTED SOLAR PANELS

PV Panels are secured to the roof using rugged Unirac Solar Mount rails and hardware. Roof mounted solar panels are often well suited to homes with south facing roofs with a pitch between 4/12 and 8/12.

GROUND MOUNTED SOLAR PANELS

Ground mounted solar panel systems provide flexibility in location and can operate more efficiently due to their optimal location and angle of solar panel mounting.

POLE MOUNTED SOLAR PANELS

Pole Mounts can only be used to mount limited numbers of PV panels and, therefore, are suitable for projects with small-scale energy needs. Pictured to the right is a 6,000 watt array, which is very large for a pole mounted system.

NET METERING

Arkansas has a yearly net metering law. This means that your utility company will allow you, as a homeowner or business, to connect your renewable energy system to their meter at no charge. By doing this, you will only have to pay for the net electricity you use.

For example: If you produce 10,000kWh in a given year, and use 15,000kWh, you will only pay for 5,000kWh. Excess energy from the renewable energy source is sent into the utility grid, and pulled back when you need it, allowing you to use the utility grid as a battery.
  

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH YOUR SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION

A typical solar installation can be completed in 3 to 5 days. After discussing the details of the project with the home or business owner, our professional crew proceeds with the installation.

  • If a ground or pole mount system is chosen, the stand must be constructed and underground AC wiring is run to the site.
  • Once the mounting apparatus is complete, the crew installs high quality aluminum Unirac solar racking on which the panels will be attached.
  • The panels are arranged and secured to the rack.
  • The Inverter is mounted in a semi-protected area and wiring run to the solar array.
  • The system is checked to verify proper performance.
  • Our crew then works with the customer and utility company to complete the grid tie procedure.

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR SOLAR PANEL MAINTENANCE

Photovoltaic solar panels seldom require any maintenance. These systems have few moving parts and operate in most locations without any user intervention. However, it is a good practice to periodically inspect the system to ensure that your investment is protected.

To get the most out of your solar panel system:
  • Verify your solar output on sunny days to ensure that it is continuing to generate its expected output. If the output drops significantly, it is important to have it inspected to determine the cause before any additional damage occurs.
  • Verify that the panels are clean. If they begin to accumulate significant debris, they should be rinsed with water. Typically, solar installations never need to be cleaned.
